I was hoping for some official kind of links, but I think I just gotta wing it. I have won second place for my short story, “Cellar Door”, a portal fantasy about a recently retired professor who isn’t sure if she really wants what she thought she was going to do with her golden years.
Here’s the announcement:
The Bucks County Short Fiction Contest is pleased to announce the winners for the Fall 2023 contest. Jennifer Fritch of New Hope captured first place for her story, “Hungry.” LCW Allingham won second place for “Cellar Door.” Lonn Braender of Washington Crossing placed third for “Red Spinny Dress.” Philadelphia writer Emma Copley Eisenberg, author of the nonfiction book The Third Rainbow Girl, and the upcoming novel, Housemates, was the final judge.
A celebration will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Sat. Nov. 18, in Tyler 142 (what was once the dining room in the Tyler mansion). We’re thrilled to be joined by Ms. Eisenberg. The event is free and open to the public.
I will be reading an excerpt from my story, and I will share pictures and the link to the story when it is up.
I would like to thank River Eno, Allison and Marlaina for their help workshopping this piece, and Elizabeth Luciano and Emma Copley Eisenberg and anyone else on the team for honoring me.
