What made you decide to write a story for Cry Baby Bridge: A collection of utter speculation?

The words “Bridge” and “Crybaby” gouged out a childhood memory, or series of memories of the rituals of childhood where I grew up. Writing the story was a way of purging some of them.

Did you grow up with a cry baby bridge legend? Is it something that affected you or was it a new story for you?

I read about it in Weird NJ but I hadn’t heard of it before that.

Why do you think this legend is so pervasive? What truth do you think is behind it?

I think the truth lies in the definition of a bridge as a passage; some people don’t quite make it across.
